Personality

Plamtya is a somewhat socially awkward individual. You won't see her approaching anyone to start a conversation if she can help it. She does appreciate people coming to her, however, and is open to discussing any topics.Once you get to know her, she's a chatterbox, but due to her imposter syndrome, she tries not to annoy anyone and will often stop herself if she goes on a rant.A lover of history, linguistics and politics, she's always seen those topics as the easiest ones to address in a conversation and it's what she generally researches about the world, especially when it concerns magic and aether.Plamtya has a pretty mean temper if you get her angry, which she attributes to her father's side of the family. Due to this, she often ignores any and all drama and pushes away anyone rude, abrasive, disrespectful etc. If she engages with such individuals, she only ends up upset and it ruins her mood for a day or two. She usually tries to be at least on neutral terms with everyone, though, and will do anything for her friends.She has bad self-esteem and thinks most things she does are bad.Plamtya loves feeling useful and helpful. Her goal in life is simple: Make sure she can help as many people as she can through her work, while gaining as much knowledge of the world and its cultures and history as possible.

Biography

I use an AU where BLM and WHM are more common, but it's optional in RP!Plamtya was born in Sharlayan.Due to her somewhat antisocial nature and disability, the young Miqo'te had few friends, but realized she didn't need many to be happy. With how widespread mail was, she found it relatively easy to communicate with everyone across the realm if she met a foreigner.Eventually, the time came for her to be properly educated in an art, and Plamtya chose magic, enrolling at the Studium to study aetherology and somanoutics with the aim of one day becoming a Sage and helping her fellow Sharlayans, as well as people all over the realm if possible.Due to succeeding in her studies, she managed to achieve her goal of becoming a Sage and was chosen to be a gleaner in Gridania.The White and Black Mage orders had recently been re-established, as the people's fear over the repeat of another War of the Magi waned. Both orders, working together with the Red Mage order, swore to uphold the balance of aetherical magics. Whether the peace would last, time would tell, as whispers about potential abuse of ambient aether under the guise of genuine practice soon filled the streets.These developments worried the Sharlayans, as they didn't want aether to be abused again, so they kept a close eye. The balance of aether had thus become the focus of Plamtya's research, due to her own interest, and orders from her superiors.She ended up moving to the forest city-state of Gridania soon after, with her mother by her side.Once there, she had her first contact with red magic through a friend who was a member of the order. This was the very art whose purpose was aetherial balance and using one's own aether to cast spells! She simply had to learn more! With her superiors' approval, she joined the red mages and began to learn about red magic and innate aetherial balance.Due to her cerebral palsy, she couldn't do the jumps the others could, so she stuck to basic black and white magic, but it was enough to give her more offensive options and good insight which contributed to her research.Through her study and further work for the Studium in the forest city, Plamtya found herself drawn to Gridania and its Padjali keepers. Here, she could breathe and feel connected to the Elementals. Not that any of them had ever spoken to her, she wasn't a Hearer or anything.She currently resides in Gridania as a Gleaner, striving to protect her homes alongside her colleagues and occasionally helps the red mages with their mission of regulating ambient aether and its misuse. She travels between her two homes as needed.
